  • Scott from VT Underground says: "One of the parks on Church Hill (Libby Hill Park maybe?) has a really tall statue - a pillar with a Confederate soldier on top. Back when my grandparents were growing up in Richmond, it was supposedly pretty common for parents to tell their children that the soldier would climb down from his pedestal at night and kill children who stayed up too late. That always kinda made me laugh, but I'll bet a lot of kids had nightmares about it!." The tall statue Scott is referring to is the Confederate Sailors and Soldiers monument, erected in 1894 (according to the Historic Richmond Foundation).
